IoT is been catching up a lot, the current phase is about the first or second generation of IoT senses where the security aspect is not there that is why there are so many threats, making it easier to hack those IoT devices. The current threats are due to code execution of the IoT devices, also the non encryption been used for data stealing. As security starts getting more prominent, further IoT devices will be more security aware, then the current scenario would change.
The threat surface itself is growing so fast that as soon as one focuses on the end point the mobile devices got added, where it was ignored and now we started seeing threats focused on mobile. Gateway has been traditional fort because it has been covered under firewall since years, so there’s no particular area to focus, every area is important. One has to have security hygiene.
Things change dynamically in security aspect, so hack yourself so that one knows how can new threats come up. Prepare yourself for an attack, test on yourself so that you can have all the means and ways to come up through any kind of attack on your device. – Mr. Sanjay Katkar, Chief Technical Officer, Quick Heal and Seqrite, Quick Heal Technologies limited
