Indian IT services company Mindtree Ltd named Debashis Chatterjee as its new managing director and chief executive officer on Friday.
Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) CEO S.N. Subrahmanyan will be appointed non-executive vice chairman, the firm said.
Both the appointments are effective from Friday as per Mindtree’s statement.
The modifications come a month after the manufacturing-to-software conglomerate L&T purchased a 60.06 percent stake in Mindtree, the first such effort in India’s software services sector after a hostile bid to obtain a controlling stake.
L&T’s hostile offer was also uncommon in India’s corporate industry, where founders with big shareholdings generally discourage unsolicited suitors.
Former CEO of Mindtree Rostow Ravanan, CEO Krishnakumar Natarajan and CEO Parthasarathy N.S. resigned on July 3, two days after L&T raised its stake in the business.
Mindtree’s new CEO, Chatterjee, earlier headed the digital systems and technology practice at Cognizant.
